Are you having problems with pages loading slowly or perhaps not loading at all when you connect to the internet? Are you thinking, My browser has been corrupted, How do I fix it? Are you running Internet Explorer and need to fix it? Are you getting some of the following messages?

If so, you will want to download and run WinsockFix.

An error occurred while renewing interface 'Internet': An operation was attempted on something that is not a socket.

The page cannot be displayed

If you are getting these or similar messages when you connect to the internet, the chances are your Winsock has been damaged or corrupted. This is a portion of the registry in your Windows operating system and unless you know what you are doing don't attempt to fix it on your own.

Every entry in the registry has to be correct or your Windows operating system will not work and Microsoft will not fix it for you. I have found a simple way to fix the problem and get your system working as it should.

WinSock XP Fix is a freeware program that is designed to fix network errors in your Windows operating system that affects Winsock settings. The first thing you will notice is that it will detect which version of Windows you are running. Currently the WinSock XP Fix will detect and repair the following versions of Windows (98, 98SE, ME, 2000, XP).

The WinsockFix program is a very simple one-button fix for all your winsock2 problems. To be fair, there are actually three buttons ˜fix™, ˜Backup Reg™ and ˜Info™. The ˜fix™ button will start the program scanning your registry and replacing the corrupt or damaged areas of the registry that directly relate to the winsock. The ˜Backup Reg™ will make a backup of your current registry in case something should go wrong.

The ˜Info™ button will provide very detailed registry information that will show the correct entries for each of the affected registry entries. Do not attempt to change the registry entries unless you have been properly trained to do so. This product does a very good job of fixing the problems that are caused by a damaged winsock settings. The registry can become damaged when we uninstall programs that access the Internet.

So if you find yourself saying, My browser has been corrupted, How do I fix it? Just run your WinsockFix and the problem will be solved. This is another valuable tool for your toolkit.
